Pontifical Villas in August: open for the holidays!

August 2021

In August, to meet the renewed and increasingly felt need for outdoor recreation, the Pontifical Villas of Castel Gandolfo will exceptionally extend the weekend opening also to the second and third week of the month (as per the published calendar).
However, they will be closed to the public on Sunday, August 15th and Monday, August 16th (Vatican holiday).

An extraordinary opening not limited only the Pontifical Apartment and its five hundred years of the history of the Popes, narrated by a multilingual audioguide that will accompany visitors on an unguided tour through paintings relics, liturgical robes, uniforms and curiosities. Also awaiting guests in this promising spring season is the luxuriant Villa Barberini Garden with its botanical and archaeological beauties, which can be enjoyed either on an ecological and panoramic minibus, or on foot, on a guided group tour, or on an independent walk.

For access to the Apostolic Palace and Gardens it is advisable to book the visit via the official portal, tickets.museivaticani.va. It is also possible - subject to availability - to purchase tickets directly at the ticket office located in the Palace. However, access will be limited and organised according to entry times.
There is a refreshment service inside the Pontifical Villas, which can be booked in advance online or purchased on the day of the visit.
