Launch of the Musei di Sera concert season
Fridays in music
Following its great public success, the Vatican Museums musical season will resume from 14 April to 20 October.
The long-awaited Musei di Sera (Evening Museums) concert programme is back: 14 musical appointments as part of the Friday evening openings, specially extended until 10.30 p.m. (last entry 08.30 p.m.).
The concerts, always included in the cost of the entry ticket, will begin at 08.00 p.m. in two exceptional “theatres”: the New Wing, at the beginning and end of the programme, and the Gregorian Profano Museum for all the other performances.
This affirmation of the special dialogue between music, art and museum architecture is also highlighted by the words of the Director of the Vatican Museums, Barbara Jatta, who strongly supports the initiative: “A synergy of visual arts and music, the universality of creative languages in dialogue with each other. The doors open to the hearts and eyes of those who find themselves in the Eternal City, for an unforgettable experience”.
As also proposed in past editions, and faithful to their educational and formative mission, the Vatican Museums call upon the students of several Italian music conservatories to enrich their Friday evenings, offering them a stage that is unique in its visibility and beauty. Performing live, among the masterpieces of classical statuary, will therefore be the instrumental and vocal excellence of various cities: from Rome to Udine, from Aosta to Campobasso, or Ravenna, via Castelfranco Veneto, Cremona, Cosenza, Siena, Gallarate, Turin and, finally, Avellino.
The inaugural and concluding days of the season will offer dual musical performances, in the majestic spaces of the gallery of the Braccio Nuovo: the joint concerts of the Musical Band of the Vatican Gendarmerie Corps with the National Band of the Financial Police on 14 April, and with the National Band of the Italian Army on 20 October.
There will instead be an inter-force (Air Force, Fire Service, Grenadiers of Sardinia and Vatican City State Gendarmerie) representation to entertain those present at the first appointment in June.
As well as the availability of a guided tour on demand, the visitor will also be able to enjoy a moment of rest and relaxation in the evocative Courtyard of the Pinecone, and savour an appetizing Happy Hour (on request when booking online).
The calendar and programme may be subject to change due to force majeure.
