The Laboratory devotes special attention to research and education activities.
Relationships and exchanges with institutions and research bodies linked to the world of restoration are ongoing and have the aim of increasing and deepening the study of materials and the selection of interventional methods. Participation in conferences and the organisation of study trips make the Painting and Wood Materials Restoration Laboratory an extremely active body within the Vatican Museums.
Educational courses are being planned for young people holding diplomas from Italian or foreign restoration schools. Internships lasting for a maximum of six months are available to a variable number of participants on the basis of projects and availability.
